What to expect during your first appointment
Your first therapy session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other and get an idea about how your treatment will proceed. During the first session, your therapist may ask you:
-
What are your symptoms?
-
What brought you to therapy?
-
Questions about your current living situation
-
Questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends)
-
What are you hoping to get out of therapy?

Your first session will be different than future visits. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature. For example, in your second session, you may explore a specific symptom, problem, or coping skill.
